She was born to Michael and Sophia Chamberlain in San Bruno, California , and she was raised in San Mateo County . She is an only child. Her parents was divorcing when she was five years old. 

She was attending Central Middle School in San Carlos, California and Notre Dame High School, Belmont ,  an all-girls Catholic preparatory school where she was on the cheerleading and track teams. 

She was performing competitive cheer for five years and was a member of the California All Stars Pink cheer team.

She was dropped out of high school during the first semester of her junior year and she was graduating after passing the California High School Exit Exam .

She was uploading the first video to her YouTube channel on June 2, 2017. She was posting videos almost daily throughout the summer of 2017.

On July 27, 2017, she posted the video We All Owe The Dollar Store An Apology . It became her first video to go viral,  and in August her channel rapidly gained subscribers, increasing from 4,000 on August 1 to 150,000 on August 30. 

Her channel was continuing to gain approximately 100,000 new monthly subscribers as of June 2018.  In December 2017, she had her first collaboration with an established YouTuber when she was appearing in a ninety-minute interview on Cody Ko ‘s podcast channel Insanely Chill .

In June 2018, she was moving from the San Francisco Bay Area (specifically San Carlos) to Los Angeles and she was forming The Sister Squad with fellow teenage YouTubers James Charles and the comedy duo The Dolan Twins .

At Vidcon 2019, Snapchat was announcing that she would be one of several celebrities from various entertainment platforms to debut a Creator Show later in the year.  At the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, she was winning the Choice Female Web Star Award.

During September’s New York Fashion Week, she was hosting the Teen Vogue Generation Next event was attended by the editor-in -chief of Vogue , Anna Wintour. 

For the 45th People’s Choice Awards, she was nominated for The Social Star of 2019 .  She was collaborating with the eyewear company Crapeyewear for a line of sunglasses that she was helping design.

In late September, she was appearing alongside other young social media celebrities in the first episode of the MTV/SnapChat collaboration Teen Code . 

On October 1, 2019, she was posting a video on his YouTube channel of visiting the YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, which featured a cameo appearance with YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

On April 11, 2019, she was launching the first episode of his podcast, Anything Goes (previously called Stupid Genius), a weekly series where she attempts to have an ongoing conversation on any particular subject/topic, the show produced by Ramble Official in a partnership with Cadence 13 and United Talent Agency, which also produces podcasts for You Tubers Rhett & Link and Smosh.

It tackles a wide range of topics such as relationships, mental health, fashion, and instincts. It’s available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and many other podcast platforms.

In July 2018, Dowry was launching a Chamberlain-designed clothing line, Emma’s Low Key/High Key .  Due to controversies related to Dote, Chamberlain cut ties with them in late 2018. 

She was attending Paris Fashion Week in March 2019 in a co-sponsorship between YouTube and Louis Vuitton, which was brokered by Derek Blasberg, director of fashion and beauty partnerships at YouTube.
