George Lucas Biography
He is the son of Dorothy Ellinore Bomberger (1913-1989) and George Walton Lucas (1913-1991), who owned a stationery store.
As a young man he was fascinated by car racing and spent most of his high school years racing underground at fairgrounds and in garages.
On June 12, 1962, while driving his Autobianchi Bianchina souped-up minicar, he overturned and was hospitalized for several days near death, causing him to lose interest in racing.
He attended Modesto Junior College, where he studied anthropology, sociology, and literature among other subjects.
He began his obsession with the world of cinema shooting car competitions with an 8mm camera.

He made such short films as Freiheit (1966) and THX-1138:4EB (which won first prize at the 1967-68 national student film festival) while studying at the University of Southern , California, which gave him the opportunity to integrate into the Coppola “gang” .
In 1967 Warner granted him a scholarship to observe and work on the making of a film of his choice; he decided to attend the filming of Finian’s Rainbow (1968), directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film in 1967, he wanted to join the United States Air Force as an officer, but was rejected due to his numerous speeding tickets.
After him, he was drafted into the army to do his military service in Vietnam, although he was declared exempt because of his diabetes, a disease from which his paternal grandfather died.

Lucas later adopted two other children: Katie Lucas, born in 1988, and Jett Lucas, born in 1993. All three of their children appeared in all three Star Wars prequels. Following his divorce, he was in a relationship with singer Linda Ronstadt during the 1980s.
He then dated Mellody Hobson, president of DreamWorks Animation, in 2006.
They announced their engagement in January 2013, and were married on June 22 of that same year, at his Skywalker Ranch estate in Marin County, California.
