He is one of hip hop’s true rebels, is known for his experimental approach to music, flair for fashion, penchant for psychedelic drugs, and prolific love life (ex-girlfriends include
Kendall Jenner and
Iggy Azalea).
The most successful member of the Harlem MC collective, made up of producers, video directors and designers, he burst onto the scene in 2011, winning a flashy $3 million dollar deal with Sony/RCA.
A former street hustler whose father was incarcerated for drug dealing and whose older brother was murdered, he has increasingly revealed the artistic, eccentric and dazzling side of his character as he has moved away from Harlem and into the creative milieu of midtown Manhattan.
He is now a front-row member of the fashion world, having collaborated with designers Raf Simons and
Jonathan Anderson, and in 2016 he became the face of Dior Homme, the first person of color to represent the menswear brand.

he joined the A$AP Mob, a sprawling collective of rappers, producers and video directors co-founded by businessman A$AP Yams, Harlem’s answer to
Malcolm McLaren.
He worked in particular with three of A$AP Mob’s producers to develop the space soundscapes underpinning his raps: Clams Casino, A$AP Ty Beats, and SpaceGhostPurpp.
He released two singles, ”
Peso ” (on which he dropped the names of fashion designers such as Rick Owens and Raf Simons, a future collaborator) and ”
Purple Swag “, in 2011, setting off a major-label bidding war that started even before he released his first mixtape,

That same year, he signed with the Sony/RCA subdivision of Polo Grounds Music for $3 million. It was a combined deal incorporating his solo projects and his collective projects on his A$AP Worldwide record label. The split was reportedly $1.7 million to him , $1.3 million for A$AP Worldwide.
His debut solo album, Long.Live.A$AP, was released on January 13, 2013. His many guests included Kendrick Lamar , Florence Welch, 2 Chainz, Joey Bada $$, Santigold, and A$AP Ferg.

The album also featured a singer, Joe Fox, who was homeless when he approached him on the streets of London and tried to sell him a CD. Instead, he asked Fox to sing for him and was so impressed that he immediately invited him into a studio to record (Fox ended up submitting five songs).
Musically, At.Long.Last.A$AP sounds much more uneven than their previous work; its psychedelic influence manifested itself in the single ” LSD “.

Rocky ‘s year was marked by loss.
His creative partner, friend and mentor, Steven Rodriguez died at the age of 26 from an overdose in January 2015. His passing caused him assess his life and career, according to an interview he gave to the UK’s Guardian newspaper in July 2015.
