He has a brother named Meinhard, a boxing champion.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Biography

From a young age, and residing in a small Austrian town, Arnold became fond of practicing body building, an activity that led him to achieve the title of Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia on several occasions.

Thanks to his sports activity, he traveled to the United States to offer bodybuilding demonstrations, settling in the American country in the 70s.

At that time it was called “The Austrian Oak”.

In 1983 he became a US citizen.

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger is a clear example of what  Leni Riefenstahl  called willpower. Even as a child he wanted to emigrate to the United States, among other reasons, to get rid of his father,  Gustav,  a local police officer and former member of the Nazi party, who was more brutal than a plow and had turned the family home into a a hell.

As soon as he could, Arnie bolted. But first he had to find some kind of passport other than the one everyone else has: he found it in the field of bodybuilding, where he immediately excelled, won awards and carved out a first career for himself hoping for something better.

He arrived in the United States in 1968, when he was only 21 years old, with an unpronounceable last name and a rather rocky English. After ignoring those who advised him to change his last name or, at least, to shorten it, our man gradually made his way in the Hollywood industry, although at first he only fell for bits of bully or deaf-mute bully: nobody seemed knowing very well what to do with that three-body wardrobe that you couldn’t understand a damn thing he said.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Career

In 1972 he made his debut as a television actor by appearing in an episode of the well-known police series “Las Calles De San Francisco” .

His physical displays did not prevent him from continuing his studies, graduating from the University of Wisconsin in Marketing and Business Administration.

His start in the world of cinema was determined by his strong presence, key for the producers to appreciate in him a suitable figure to embody great heroes and mythological figures, such as Hercules in “Hercules in New York” (1970), his film debut in which he appeared credited as Arnold Strong.

In this film it was dubbed in its original version, because at that time it still had a strong Austrian accent. In 1976 he was awarded a Golden Globe for Best Newcomer Actor for “Steel Muscles (Stay Hungry)” (1976), a film directed by Bob Rafelson in which Arnold adopted his real surname for the first time in credits.

At the beginning of the 1980s and thanks to blockbuster titles such as “Conan the Barbarian” (1982) by John Milius or “Terminator” (1984) by James Cameron , Schwarzenegger managed to become one of the most important stars that American cinema has known  action throughout its history.

In addition to his facet as an actor, Arnold owns a production company called Oak Productions and made his first steps as a director with the telefilm “Christmas In Connecticut” (1992) and with an episode of the television series “Tales From The Crypt”.

In 1994, for his performance in the comedy “Junior” (1994), he was nominated for a Golden Globe.

Outside of film, Schwarzenegger appeared in music videos for AC/DC , Bon Jovi, and Guns N’ Roses .

In 2003 he managed to be elected, as a candidate of the Republican Party, governor of the state of California.

Shortly after, he decided to leave the world of acting. In 2010, she made a cameo in the Sylvester Stallone movie “The Expendables” .

With Stallone he tried to escape from a high security prison in “Escape Plan” (2013) .

He later returned to the Terminator saga in “Terminator Genesis” (2015) .

The same year he was the father of Abigail Breslin in “Maggie” (2015) , a film about zombies.

In “Una Historia De Venganza” (2017) , a film based on real events, he wanted revenge for the death of his wife and daughter in a plane crash. The same year he was part of the cast of the action film “International Assassins” (2017).

Two years later he resumed the Terminator saga with “Terminator: Dark Destiny” (2019) and took part in the Chinese-Russian film “The Mystery of the Dragon” (2019)

Currently he is preparing the films “The Legend Of Conan”, “Kung Fury 2” and “Triplets”; in addition to the TV series “Outrider”.

Things changed in 1982, when he landed the leading role in  John Milius ‘s ‘Conan the Barbarian’ , where he managed to squeeze in a few intelligible phrases between the usual grunts. In 1984,  James Cameron  chose him to give life to ‘Terminator’, a role for which he will go down in film history and the start of a saga that will soon add a new link to the chain, when ‘Terminator: dark fate’ (Terminator: dark destiny), which to see if it revives the franchise, which is a bit withered (except for the first two installments by Cameron, the others left a lot to be desired because they were repetitive and tiresome).

And from then on, everything was hunky-dory: Arnie became an American, his lifelong dream, and even retired from film for a season, between 2003 and 2011, to act as ‘governator’ of California for his beloved Republican party, since Arnie is not an ex-Nazi like his late father, but he is a man of order (which did not prevent him from having a child out of his marriage with  Maria Shriver , a member of the Kennedy clan, with his Mexican assistant: a certain  Joseph Baena , who was not too quick to acknowledge).

Unlike his traditional nemesis, Sylvester Stallone , Arnie has shown a certain sense of humor, as revealed by the three comedies he shot with  Danny de Vit.or – to highlight ‘Twins’, where Arnie and Danny played unlikely twins (I never understood why a ‘remake’ with Bertín and Arévalo was not shot in Spain) – and the self-parodic tone that he has exhibited in other films, especially in the saga of ‘The expendables’ (‘The mercenaries’).

At 72 years old, Schwarzenegger no longer has anything to prove, but it is especially consistent that he still maintains ties with the world from which he comes, that of bodybuilding, sponsoring that international meeting. Already put, we could have commissioned him the opening speech of the Mercè and we would have saved the patriotic counterprogramming by Toni Albà.

Arnold also invested in his first real estate investment company with his earnings from the mail order business and his earnings. He bought an apartment for $10,000.

Schwarzenegger has also invested in a shopping center in Columbus, Ohio. Similarly, he also has a significant stake in an investment company, Dimensional Fund Advisors.

He also owns the film production company Oak Production Inc. He also owns a publishing joint venture with Simon & Schuster called Fitness Publications.

Also, in partnership with LeBron James, he founded Ladder. The company focused on developing nutritional supplements that would help athletes with severe cramps.

Similarly, Schwarzenegger, along with his wife, opened a restaurant in Santa Monica in 1992.

The restaurant was called Schatzi On Main, which means little treasure. However, in 1998 he sold the restaurant.

Arnold Schwarzenegger published an autobiography called Full Recovery . A chapter of the book The Secrets includes his extramarital affair.

Likewise, most of the book focuses on his success in three main parts of his life: bodybuilder, actor, and governor.

Schwarzenegger’s famous Mediterranean-style home in Los Angeles, USA.

Since childhood, Schwarzenegger mainly saw heavy military vehicles, which sparked his interest in tanks.

Thus, as a result, he paid $20,000 to transport his Austrian Army M47 Patton tank to the US. He had operated the tram during its mandatory service in 1965.
