Brendan Fraser 2022

The actor had been in a depression since 2018 , after divorcing his wife, losing his mother and denouncing the sexual assault he suffered early in his career at the hands of Philip Berk, the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Part of the entertainment industry positioned itself with Berk and turned its back on the actor , who had a hard time finding new roles for a while (between 2014 and 2019 he did not make a single film). Reflecting his problems in his weight and his appearance , we hope that The Whale is the resurgence of a fallen star and his return to the firmament from which he never deserved to be expelled.

He would be willing to return to the saga more than 14 years later . Of course, he only puts one but: the script has to be up to the task . “I don’t know how I would make it work, but I’m open to it. Someone just has to come up with the right idea and concept.”

He was also warning why the reboot of The Mummy with Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella failed, so as not to make the same mistake in a hypothetical fourth installment. “The ingredient that was in the new one was fun. That was missing. It was a scary film that was too direct. The Mummy have to be exciting, but not scary .”
