He was born in Santa Ana , California , United States on February 9 , 1987 . His full name is Michael Bakari Jordan. His parents are Michael A. Jordan, a caterer, and Donna Davis, a high school teacher and artist advisor.
He has an older sister, Jamila, who works in film production, and a younger brother, Khalid, who was a football player at Howard University. In 1990 , after two years in California, Jordan and his family moved to Newark , NJ. He attended Newark Arts High School, where his mother works, and where he played basketball.

His beginnings were in the world of child modeling, where he worked as a model for various companies and brands, including the sporting goods industry. Determined to embark on a career as an actor, he entered the Newark Arts Institute in New Jersey City .
His first opportunity as an actor was on television, in 1999 , with ephemeral characters in famous series, such as: The Sopranos and Cosby.
In that same year he debuted in the cinema with a role in the film Black And White . In 2001 he landed a larger role in the film Hardball, starring famed Canadian actor Keanu Reeves .
In 2002 he got the role of Wallace in the TV series The Wire (Bajo Escucha). A year later he joined the television series: All My Children (All My Children) playing Reggie Porter; becoming the youngest African-American actor cast on ABC’s daytime drama series.

In 2015 , he achieved international fame by co-starring with Sylvester Stallone in the boxing film Creed: Heart of a Champion, directed by Ryan Coogler.
The film is a sequel to the franchise of the renowned film: Rocky; this new installment is centered on the son of boxer Apollo Creed, called Adonis “Donnie” Johnson Creed. He reprized the role of Adonis Johnson in Creed II: Defending the Legacy of (2018).
He cemented his stardom in 2018 playing supervillain Erik Killmonger in Black Panther.
A year later he starred in the film: Just Mercy (Question of Justice), a film based on real events where he played the lawyer Bryan Stevenson defending the renowned actor Jamie Foxx .
