Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. was born October 20, 1971. He is better known as Snoop Dogg who is an American rapper, songwriter, and actor. 

He is one of the most influential and important rappers of the 20th century.

He was born in Long Beach, United States , on October 20, 1971, the son of Vernall Varnado, a singer and mail carrier, and Beverly Broadus.

His mother remarried after the death of his father and he took the last name of his stepfather, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr. From a very young age, he was interested in music and especially in rap . 

He studied at the Long Beach Polytechnic School and after graduating, he faced several problems with the law. He was in and out of prison for several years, although this did not stop him.

During his time in prison, him and his cousin recorded their first songs. It was then that one of his singles, Hold On, was heard by Dr. Dre, who wasted no time in inviting him to work. 

He initially took the name Snoop Doggy Dogg and was part of Dre’s debut album The Chronic. This album was well received, opening the doors of the industry for him.
